Movies on a Monday

Standard

Having A LOT of spare time on my hands in Japan I have been able to watch a lot of movies. I love movies, so it’s really great 🙂

I wanted to share with you two of my favourite movies I have watched just recently…..

Amelie

(If you can’t see the subtitles, press the CC button on the bottom of the video)

Amelie was recommended to me by my good friend Jen of Chuckles Designs. This movie cheered me right up on my saddest day so far in Japan. I think it has magical powers 🙂

and

Fantastic Mr. Fox

When Fantastic Mr. Fox first came out I chose not to see it because I love the Roald Dahl story and I thought it looked too different from that. But this really was such a great movie 🙂
The characters, the design and the animation, all well, Fantastic 😉

Have you seen either of these movies? What did you think?

What is your favourite movie that puts you in a good mood?

30 Days of Me – Day 4

Day 4 – a habit that you wish you didn’t have

I could think of a few habits I wish I didn’t have, but I think the worst habit is having too much ‘stuff’. Not so much living in Japan, but back at home. (And I know it’s all there waiting for me right where I left it! Lucky that, otherwise it might get thrown out!…not by me *ahem* part of the problem 😛 )

For example:
: I have a PHENOMENAL amount of teaching resources at home in Melbourne which I have accumulated over only 5 years. I’m sure most teacher’s have a ton of stuff at home and in their classroom. The problem is I don’t have a classroom so it all has to be stored at home! We are brainstorming ideas at the moment of storing it up in the roof, because if I’m teaching Prep (5 year olds) I don’t need to have all the stuff for Grade 6 (11-12 year olds) taking up living space in my house.

What I really should do is go through everything and pick out the most valuable resources that I have always gone back to and then have a ‘garage sale’ with the rest of it….something along the lines of teachers come and take whatever you like and then give me what you think it’s worth second hand. Any amount would be ok.

Does that sound like a plan?

p.s. the teaching resources are just one of the ‘stuff’ issues! This is why it’s a bad habit 😛

Do you too have an interest in Pinterest?

Day 3 – a picture of you and your friends

I am very excited about today’s post 🙂 I am a very lucky girl to have so many close girlfriends, and I want to dedicate this post to some very special chickens.

Here are some pictures of my bestest people in the world ….

Juliet, Me and Bree

Kellie, Sarah, Me and Bec

Me and Karlie

And just some more because I can 🙂 ….

Aren’t they beautiful? xoxo

And one last thing for my favourite people…The people that make my chest hurt when I think about them because they are so far away… The people who make me laugh and make me cry (tears of laugher) …The people who I admire for their awesome style and their awesome personality….The people who make me feel special and loved….

I watch this when I’m happy or when I’m missing you and I think of you, I hope you can do the same xo

Day 2 – the meaning behind your blog name

What once was just ‘My Dukan Diary’ has now become My Dukan ‘and Japan’ Diary. I think it’s pretty straightforward, and that’s my problem…

I toyed around for ages at the start of this year with a new name for a new blog, because my life is not all about the Dukan Diet now (it wasn’t all about that, but that’s why I was blogging), but then as I mentioned earlier I decided I should just stick with the blog I already have….I was missing my blog you see 🙂

But my life is so much more than the Dukan diet, and I knew my blog wasn’t going to be focussed on that….So to spice things up I decided to add in the ‘in Japan’….lol, how daring. I will keep thinking of a new name for the blog, when I find one that fits me, and I will change the name of the blog (on the blog page) the address will have to stay the same (I’m not that technologically savvy to re-direct an address!)

Any suggestions? 😛

30 Days of Me – Day 1

Standard

Day 1 – a recent picture of you and 15 interesting facts about yourself

I took this photo of myself (there’s no-one else here to :P) on Feb 11, at Oya Train Station, or Oya Eki (for you budding Japanese language enthusiasts). I was sooo very happy because it was snowing and beautiful, in a place I otherwise don’t enjoying being because I have to wait ages for a bus. On this day I did not mind the wait at all 🙂

Now for random some facts in no particular order…(don’t know how interesting they are!)

: I got married when I was 20 (I’m now 27!) to my amazing husband Brad.

: I have a cat called Maxie, she is my only baby 😛 (I can’t wait to have real ones, but can if you know what I mean).

: I love red. Actually I just love colour.

: I am my mum on the outside and my dad on the inside.

: I am living in Japan at the moment teaching English to children.

: Back home in Australia I had been a primary school teacher for 5 years.

: Last year was very challenging for me.

: I have an awesome group of friends who I miss dearly.

: I have one younger brother who I love and I am very proud of, and I really like his girlfriend 🙂

: When I was younger I wanted to be a pilot (I will settle for being able to fly at any moment).

: I am learning to crochet with the help of YouTube and would love to be able to make amigurumi.

: I am happy in my own company.

: I really love to read and don’t have nearly enough books to read in Japan.

: My favourite food in Japan is Okonomiyaki, and I’ve had some brilliant and average ones since I’ve been here.

: I don’t know what I want to do with my life when I go home (or when I want to go home for that matter).
